Synopsis. This workshop aims to create a paradigm shift in your perception of learning, crossing over different fields of knowledge including science, history, poetry, architecture, and more. How come that we can successfully teach computers “how to learn” different things (e.g., tagging your face on your Facebook picture) using computer-science machine-learning programs that we write ourselves and on the other hand we have forgotten how to “learn about ourselves”? Since my research field dips into machine-learning, this workshop will touch on two seemingly different topics, but deeply connected: (1) machine-learning methods commonly used by Google and Facebook, and (2) human-learning methods for gradual positive change, and excellence.
